Art-Xscape is an intimate, mixed-media art retreat in Austin, TX, the Live Music Capitol of the world. Art-Xscape 2015 will be held October 8-11, 2015 at the Holiday Inn Midtown in Austin, TX!
Art-Xscape’s mission is to provide aspiring and experienced artists with a supportive and creative opportunity to learn new techniques, improve their skills, and meet to build relationships with other artists. We are strongly committed to a relaxing retreat, first-class service, and fulfilling the artistic and creative wells of our attendees. We believe there are should be no boundaries in any artistic endeavor and are committed to breaking down the barriers between daily life and our creative selves.

As part of the mission for Art-Xscape involves building your artistic community, we provide a variety of activities outside of class for you to make creative connections.
At the opening reception, you will meet the Art-Xscape staff and faculty, see the class samples, and play a few ice-breaker games. We will serve a light meal and provide you with a tour of the facility. Afterwards, you can relax in your room or join us with your Art Journal.
Friday Art Journal Social
Friday evening after class, we will have an Art Journal Social. We’ll have a dessert bar to get you jazzed for journalling! Bring your art journal down, your supplies and we’ll have a happy evening! Bring your trades and exchange them here in addition to in your classes.
Saturday Art Market
Saturday evening, we host the Art-Xscape Art Market. Take this opportunity to buy work from your teachers and fellow Art-Xscape attendees!
Venue and Travel
Our 2015 venue is the Holiday Inn Midtown in Austin, TX, centrally located in Austin, TX. Art-Xscape has a group rate for the event that includes breakfast. You can book your hotel room through our group link or you can use our group rate code. We offer a lunch plan which you can purchase at registration, or you can choose to venture to nearby restaurants. Austin has built a reputation as the Live Music Capitol thanks to Austin City Limits, South x Southwest Music Festival and Pachanga Fest. There is a lot of live music to take in on weekends not far from the hotel. Our 2015 event occurs on the second weekend of the 2015 Austin City Limits music festival, so you will have the option to check out any of a number of live music shows that are ancillary to the festival.
Austin is served by the Austin Bergstrom International Airport and all major US airlines and some direct international flights. The hotel offers a free shuttle service for attendees arriving by air. If you would like to explore Austin, we recommend renting a car. Austin has light rail and bus service in the downtown area, but there is limited access from the hotel.
Austin in the fall is usually sunny, with temperatures in the 70’s during the day and the 50’s at night. The hotel is situated just at the intersection of US290 East and IH35, just 10 minutes from downtown. It’s within a short driving distance of the State Capitol, the Bob Bullock State History Museum, and the University of Texas – which has the LBJ Library, the Harry Ransom Center, and the Blanton Museum. The hotel offers a free shuttle to any location within 5 miles of the hotel which will get you to UT and downtown! Plus the hotel is just a block from Jerry’s Art-arama’s Austin location, so you can get your supplies there!
Registration, Cancellations and Payment Options
Registration opens Friday, April 3, 2015 and closes Monday, September 14, 2015. All attendees receive a welcome bag with a variety of hand-made mini-art items inside and some snacks. All classes have a maximum size but we will maintain a wait list in the event of cancellations. When registering, please indicate your first and second choice for each class day. Classes will be filled in the order registrations are received. As classes fill, the class page will be updated with the current number of openings once there are 5 or fewer spaces remaining.
Pricing and Payments
Each 1-day workshop is $149.00 plus a non-refundable, one time registration fee of $35.00. Two-day workshops are $292.00. The workshop and registration fee cover your class registration, all evening activities and entrance to the Art Market. We require the registration fee and a refundable deposit of $100 to hold your class selections. You may pay in full at registration or pay in 3 installments, if taking multiple classes. If paying in installments, the payment schedule is 1)$135.00 due with registration, 2) half of remaining balance by July 31, 2015, and 3) final balance due by September 15, 2015.
You may pay by credit card (PayPal) or check. If paying by check, make your check out to Amy Nelson, AnLiNa Designs and mail it along with your registration form to AnLiNa Designs, PO Box 514, Round Rock, TX 78680-0514. There is a $25.00 late fee for payments received after September 15, 2015. Registrations received after this date must be paid in full on registration. A $10.00 returned check fee will be assessed on any returned check.
Hotel reservations and meals
Hotel reservations under the Art-Xscape group rate will be available starting January 21, 2015. Your hotel reservation includes breakfast if you use our reservation link or the Group code. If you would like a room mate, contact us and we’ll connect you with possible room mates. Hotel reservations must be made by September 16, 2015 to receive the group rate.
Cancellations must be received in writing no later than August 28, 2015 to receive a full refund (minus registration fee). Cancellations after August 28, 2015, will be refunded less the registration fee and the deposit. If a class does not fill and the instructor chooses to cancel their class, you will receive a full refund for that class, less the registration fee.
